GROWMARK/FS Names 2019 Enduring Farm Winners
Celebrating what’s next in sustainable agriculture practices
FS Member Companies, along with their cooperative supplier, GROWMARK, named the 2019 Enduring Farm awards to acknowledge those farmers who have adopted best management practices that optimize nutrient utilization, leading to long-term soil and water quality while enhancing ROI.
To be considered for the Enduring Farm award, FS companies nominate farmer-customers who use multiple sustainable best management practices on their farms. Best management practices implemented include the use of 4R nutrient management systems, regular soil sampling, VRT applications of fertilizer, the use of cover crops, nitrification, and urease inhibitors.
“We appreciate our FS members and companies for bringing farmers what’s next in sustainable agriculture practices,” said Mark Orr, GROWMARK vice president of agronomy. “The GROWMARK System and its farmer-customers are at the very forefront of nutrient management, assessing cropping practices, and operational processes.”
Eighty-eight Enduring Farms were named for implementing nutrient management practices during the 2019 growing season, as well as their commitment to preserving and improving their land and natural resources for future generations.
Some of the grower benefits include:
- Opportunity for collaboration and knowledge development providing better understanding of
Nutrient Management practices and their relationship to improved nutrient utilization and profitability.
- Participation in new programs, technology and tools to enhance farm profitability and nutrient
utilization.
